In-Game Info[]
Samurai were the military class in Japan. They were landholders with enough money to purchase armor and swords. They lived and died by Bushido, their code of ethics and honor.
The Samurai's desire to distinguish himself in combat was dictated by Bushido…which demanded that he prove his loyalty—and demonstrate his fearlessness—to the daimyo he served.
Although the average Samurai bow had an effective range of only 100 yards, there is a popular tale of a warrior who waded into the sea and shot a folding fan…one that had been raised on a ship's mast, over 700 yards away.
The most famous duelist in Japan was Miyamoto Musashi. He began dueling at age 13, and won over 60 contests—mostly with a wooden sword which he carved from a boat's oar.
